ACQUAINTANCE WITH BARCELONA

I cannot say that Barcelona is the best city I have ever seen, but its uniqueness and unforgettableness cannot be doubted! This city is good in everything: a magnificent beach holiday is in no way inferior to a variety of entertainment, parties and shopping, and historical monuments are set off by unique architecture. And all together it creates such an enchanting feeling that it is simply not possible to remain indifferent from visiting Barcelona! Not a single one! No one! That is why only tourism gives the city such funds that can comfortably exist.

Barcelona was created by Nature, History and the genius of Antonio Gaudi. In 1882, a young architect, who shocked society with his radical style, designed and began to build the grandiose Church of the Holy Family – the Sagrada Familia. To confirm the correctness of his lost calculations was only recently possible, and even then – a special computer program …

The temple, in which Gaudi, during his lifetime, managed to build only the facade of the “Passion of the Christ”, glorified him for centuries, but in return took everything: youth, wealth, love, and life itself too …

Gaudi, in the last years of his life, simply became a beggar, giving all his means and strength to his offspring. It is not surprising, therefore, that his taxi driver, brought down by a tram, was not recognized by the then taxi drivers and refused to be taken to the clinic. When his friends found him in a hospital for the homeless, Gaudi was no longer able to save him. After that fatal mistake, the colors of shame and mourning (yellow and black) determine the type of city taxi. And the city itself defines the architecture of Gaudi, and above all – Sagrada Familia, which has since been continuously built by the best specialists in the world and should be ready by 2026, the 100th anniversary of his death.

This Catalan miracle belongs (by the will of Gaudi!) To all mankind, therefore it is raised only with private donations and funds that people pay to visit the Sagrada. And the turn there is huge! Probably, because of not only curiosity, but also the desire to contribute to this outstanding project of not ages – ages!

If Sagrada is striking in its monumentality and scale (the height of the tower of Christ will be 170m), then Gaudi’s other work, Park Güell, resembles a good old fairy tale!

Luxurious nature and quaint architecture complement each other and create … an “ordinary miracle”, in which both real gingerbread houses, and the famous (both long and trim) parapet-bench, and salamander (symbol of Barcelona), and even a house-museum, where Gaudi himself used to live!

Walking along the famous pedestrian La Rambla, we did not reach the port and the statue of Columbus, because we did not have time to turn our heads around: each house is unique, and souvenir shops, shops and benches attracted and invited! And at least one glance not to see the market of San Jupin – just a tourist crime! And going into this magnificence of the form, color, smell (and prices!) Of products, quickly leaving it is simply impossible!

The Barcelona Aquarium, to which I didn’t want to go, was struck by its uniqueness: it was not we who looked at sharks and other huge fish, but they — at us, swimming around the glass tunnel, where tourists unwillingly joined each other.

And then we went from the city heated by the sun to the blessed coolness of the “Spanish Village” on Mount Montjuic. This is an architectural and ethnographic museum-park under the open sky. Now – the familiar format, but in 1929 – the first and only of its kind! Built to the World Exhibition, the village represents the whole country in miniature: about 120 authentic houses from all regions of Spain come down to the beautiful, green and flower-filled central square with a gazebo for the orchestra: no music without Spain!

And the main music of Barcelona is its “Singing Fountains”! Now, perhaps, they are not the most spectacular, but still – the first: the same World Exhibition, 1929. This show fascinated me: the colorful streams of water became either lace, then rocketed up to a height of 50 meters by a rocket, then hung with a fluffy haze, then flashed with flames. And, merging with the wonderful music, they erased and confused all the concepts, remaining an unprecedented feeling in the soul …

How can you tell love? Or Happiness? So I’m not going to tell Beauty! She can only admire, rejoicing and charging with positive energy! After all, the gathering place of thousands of enthusiastic people is certainly the place of the Force!

… Leaving Barcelona on this day, we already knew for sure that we would definitely come back soon!
