ITALY LAKE

Little Italy is washed by 4 seas, and this alone makes it a dream of beach lovers! But the country seemed set to make it accessible to all, aggravating the amount of water: there are about 1,500 Alpine, volcanic and lagoon lakes.

Prialpiyskie – the largest, clean and, perhaps, beautiful.

Garda, the largest lake in Italy, just one of them.

It is located between Milan and Venice, in the tourist Mecca, and therefore not just popular, but mega popular. But even without a favorable location, it would still be famous: protected from the winds, with a wonderful climate, clear water, a lot of historical monuments in the same mass of resort towns with developed “resting” infrastructure. And with a “twist”: the standing waves of seiches appear on the lake even without wind and keep when a couple of minutes, and when – and a couple of hours!

Slightly more than an hour drive from Milan airport – and here it is, lake number 2 in Italy: Maggiore. From May to October here you can relax, have fun and be enlightened historically for your pleasure, enjoying not only the purest water surrounded by mountain landscapes, but also natural-man-made parks and gardens.

By the way, in case of time trouble, choosing between a lake, a park or a city can be very difficult. So it was with us in the city of Como on the lake of the same name, also pristine, famous and luxurious. Famous Virgil and Leonardo da Vinci appreciated him, choosing to relax and live. You all saw it too, without even realizing it: the magnificent views of Como are decorated with the films “Ocean’s 12 Friends” and “Royal Casino”.

And the lake has three branches. Therefore, here there is such a sand bar, unusual and attractive for tourists. A young woman in a sari wandered there with a big bundle in her hands. While on the embankment we were looking for a good angle for the lake and ourselves, loved ones, it was near, and the bundle – a wonderful big-eyed kid. We smiled, both of them were good. The Indian did not hide her treasure from the eyes of others, but, on the contrary, stopped and raised it higher so that the child could be clearly seen. Probably in India they know something different about the nature of people, meeting them so openly and kindly …

The city was founded by the Romans, about a century BC. The famous scientists of antiquity (Pliny the Elder and Pliny the Younger) and modernity (Alessandro Volta) were born here.

The flourishing Como at one time was a serious competitor to Milan, was French, Spanish, Austrian, and only in the 19th century became Italian. Therefore, the monuments of the city, authentic or lovingly restored, are an interweaving of styles, eras and cultures.

In this lane we came upon a bench selling fresh seafood and dishes from them. Washing down the shrimps and fish with beer, they observed a pilgrimage of sellers of the nearest ice cream shops: a siesta began. Deciding that the local will not buy the bad, they themselves were tempted by the classic Italian dessert …

Just outside Como is another beautiful lake: Lugano. It is Italian-Swiss, and the city-namesake, with a unique park and an embankment alley, is already Switzerland. These lakes are called the magnificent North Italian Four.

But there are others: Lake Isea, the smallest of the great Italian lakes. It is famous for its temperate climate and diverse landscapes, from rocks to groves of olives and chestnuts.

Lake Braies is alpine: almost 1.5 thousand meters above sea level. With emerald clear water, surrounded by mountains and forests, it is ideal for boat trips.

And Lake Orta, in addition to the beauty of landscapes, is famous for the island of San Giulio with a female monastery, where nuns, who have given a vow of silence, restore ancient values. Here it is wonderfully reflected and meditated …

The numerous lakes of Italy are a diverse and weighty component of the charm of a country that is worth remembering when plotting new travel routes.
